The print offered for sale here is from the Bohn edition printed in 1851.
On the negotiations for the marriage of the Prince of Wales with Princess Caroline of Brunswick, which was solemnized on the 8th of April, 1795. It was popularly expected that this marriage would wean the Prince from his old vices, and here we see his hunters, his mistresses, his gambling companions, and his bacchanalian propensities, all disappearing before the dazzling prospect; which, however, as it was soon discovered, was but a dream. |
